Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart Got Married -- in Jeans!

Thursday, June 24, 2010

They finally did it, and how! "Indiana Jones" Harrison Ford get married to long-time partner "Ally McBeal" Calista Flockhart -- he in Wrangler jeans and she in a white sundress. PopEater called it "the icing on the cake" of the couple's "eight-year relationship and 16-month engagement." And it was casual.

It was held outdoors in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Harrison Ford was filming "Cowboys & Aliens". He had the day off from work, right? So what the heck, let's get married!

Their inner circle are happy for the couple. Ford's son, Ben, says: "I think it is wonderful that they finally made it legit. It is really terrific news." Costume designer Bernie Pollack, a close friend, thought "This [marriage] will only enhance what they already had . . . They're both honest in their approach to life and to each other."

Congratulations!

"Transformers 3" Minus Megan Fox

Friday, May 28, 2010

A lot of buzz has been going on for weeks about Megan Fox being dropped from the highly-successful "Transformers" movie series. Turns out there's some truth to it. "Transformers 3" will have British Victoria's Secret Angel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as replacement for Megan Fox. So, what do you think?

Apparently, Megan Fox' contribution to the first two "Transformers" movies as Shia LaBeouf's sultry love interest cannot overcome the nagatives that came from her propensity to make attention-grabbing comments to the press. The final straw seems to be her public conflict with "Transformers" director Michael Bay that happened last year when "Transformers 2" was released.

Enter Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who has worked before with Michael Bay on several Victoria’s Secret pictorials. The 23-year-old Brit has no acting experience. A VS runway model in 2006, a Hollywood star in 2010. Talk about luck, or is it connections?

To learn more about the new "Transformers" lady who will soon deal with the shape-shifting machines, The Frisky wrote down a few facts about her here.

Jennifer Aniston's Private Cruise on the Seine

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Romance rumors are really rife for Jennifer Aniston these days, spotted recently in romantic Paris getting "friendly and flirty" with The Bounty Hunter co-star Gerald Butler, People.com reported. The friendly flirts took a private cruise -- albeit with 20 other guests -- on the Seine River. Sources say: "They were very close," and "They really warmed up the room."

People.com seemed to wax poetic over the softly-falling rain that fell on Paris as Jen and Gerald sailed on a luxury yacht. Jennifer Aniston and Gerald Butler was seen to be constantly "hugging and touching each other" on the cruise. And dining on salads, lobsters, and champagne. Wonder if "Moon River" played on board to complete the romantic mood?

The co-stars deny rumor of romance, with the Paris sojourn supposedly a promotional tour for The Bounty Hunter, which will premier on Sunday at Champs-Elysées.

New Moon: Pale Version of Twilight?

Thursday, November 26, 2009

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon," maybe a hit with the teenage fans, but critics are lambasting the new Hollywood movie based on the best-selling vampire romance series created by Stephenie Meyers.

The Boston Globe, in particular, waxed eloquent, saying that the Hollywood sequel to last year's "Twilight" is "an anemic comedown after the full-blooded swoon" of the first movie. Critics complain of the dirge-like pacing of the story. They scored it low on dialogue and musical score, saying that these "bring out the book’s worst daytime soap tendencies."

The acting wasn't spared either, with Hollywood actor Robert Pattinson’s acting described as "all emo posturing", adding that "the actor suddenly seems to be embarrassed" to be in the movie."

Nicole Kidman Says Hollywood Demeans Women

Friday, October 23, 2009

"Probably."

This is what award-winning Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman answered when she testified at the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee, when asked by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, on whether the movie industry "played a bad role," according to AP.

Nicole Kidman should now what she is talking about, having inhaled Hollywood for a long time now. She testified as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), promoting the International Violence against Women Act.

She back-pedaled in saying that despite Hollywood's propensity in giving women demeaning roles, the industry has also made efforts to ending women violence.

"I can't be responsible for all of Hollywood but I can certainly be responsible for my own career," she said. Good for her, because she has the privilege of picking her roles, but other Hollywood actresses, particularly low-megawatt ones, do not have the same fortune.

Sharon Stone: 51, Topless, OMG!

Monday, August 24, 2009

She's 51, but when Sharon Stone posed topless on French magazine Paris Match recently, she showed she could still give younger women a run for their money, according to Fox News.

Many women will probably scream "Unfair!" when they see Sharon Stone pose in nothing but a bondage-style ensemble of corset, leather boots, cage sandals and gloves. Unfair it may be, but this mother of three is still a looker and that "Basic Instinct" bod is still very flash-able and reminiscent of when she famously flashed the cameras in the 1992 film where she co-starred with Michael Douglas.

“I’m a person who feels that if it’s appropriate for the character I’m playing or the mood of the piece, then [posing nude] is no big thing,” the actress said.

All I can say is: I wish I have a body like that when I'm... 41.

Why Do They Hate Katherine Heigl?

Wednesday, August 05, 2009

Some Hollywood claws are out, and they are ripping Katherine Heigl to shreds these days, the Los Angeles Times reports. Apparently, it's payback time for Heigl, who complained in a 2007 Vanity Fair interview that the film "Knocked Up", where she was given the leading role and a hefty paycheck, "paints the women as shrews" but shows the men as "lovable."

That rankled with her director, Judd Apatow, and co-actor, Seth Rogen, and just recently, at "The Howard Stern Show,” they teamed up to pummel Heigl. While promoting Apatow's new film "Funny People," Rogen took a stab at "The Ugly Truth,” Heigl's recent film which was the worst-reviewed movie of the summer. Because one critic called the movie a "sexist swill", Rogen sarcastically commented that it's hard to imagine how "The Ugly Truth" made women look any better, and: "That movie looks like it really puts women on a pedestal in a beautiful way." They went on to diss Heigl's movie with fascinating yet unprintable insights.

One supposes they went home happy after that. As for Katherine Heigl, be advised to fight with class, honey.

Hermione as Marilyn Manson's Cinderella?

Friday, July 24, 2009

Emma Watson, the wholesome Hermione in the phenomenally successful "Harry Potter" series, is leaving boy-next-door Daniel Radcliffe for notorious shock rocker Marilyn Manson. Eh? How's that again? Sun UK worries over how Emma Watson is going to cope with her new film role as glass-slippered Cinderella in a Goth-inspired musical thought up by Marilyn Manson himself.

The pretty lass may be in over her head, considering that this will be her first film appearance outside of the Harry Potter franchise. Emma Watson, after all, grew up in front of audience' eyes sharing screen time with good-looking Daniel Radcliffe. This decision to sing in a dark film with Marilyn Manson is brave, brave indeed.

What's Wrong With Mischa Barton?

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

There are so many questions than answers over the "involuntary psychiatric hold" ordered by the Los Angeles Police Department for OC star Mischa Barton. Access Hollywood reports that authorities responded to a non-911 call from Mischa Barton's residence and shortly upon arrival at the actress' home began assisting Mischa Barton with a “medical issue."

An LAPD source told Access Hollywood that Mischa Barton was placed under Section 5150of the California Welfare and Institutions Code. 5150 allows authorities to hold a person involuntarily if they present a danger to themselves or others, or are gravely disabled, or suffer from a mental disorder. By the way, this same code held Britney Spears twice in LA last year.

Why was a non-911 call made? What was the "medical issue" that Mischa Barton had? Why was she placed under 5150? One thing is answered, though, the British-born actress will miss the premiere of her new movie Homecoming in New York because of this.

Paris Hilton's Pledge This! Court Battle

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Paris Hilton is by now very comfortable in courtrooms and with judges. After her past legal issues, the current lawsuit filed by the investors of the movie Pledge This! against her seems quite run-of-the-mill and, like, not so hoooot!

Pledge This!, the "ghastly movie" that, according to NBC Miami, earned only a measly 2.9 million at the box office, was made to the tune of $7.5 million, angering investors who claimed in their lawsuit that Paris Hilton did not do enough to promote the movie, that's why it flopped.

Paris looked very interested in the court proceedings, maybe because cell phones are not allowed inside the chambers. She put on a dab of makeup before taking the stand, saying:

"I promoted this movie from the very beginning, basically plugging this movie more than I ever plugged anything in my life. I'm an Aquarius, so I'm very creative. I do the creativity and they do the business."

After that bewildering speech, Paris buttered up to the judge saying, "You're the best judge ever!"

The judge replied: "Thanks, but I'm going to rule based on the law."

Oh, to be the court stenographer in that proceedings!

Pamela Anderson Returns to Baywatch

Monday, July 13, 2009

Baywatch is one the most successful shows in TV history, and that maybe the reason why Paramount Pictures is cooking up a movie version of the hit TV show. Fans of the TV show will excitedly await the film version, bringing back powerful memories of all those hunks and babes running along the sandy beach, tanned, strong, young . . .

Enter Pamela Anderson in the classic Baywatch lifeguard uniform: red, one-piece, and –still hot? Apparently, Paramount Pictures thinks so, according to the New York Daily News. Pam will be appearing in the big-screen remake of Baywatch in a cameo role. And as if to dress the part, the actress is recently showing off her body clad in nothing but the skimpiest bathing suits -- and a gold one at that at the Life Ball in Vienna in May.

The Baywatch remake will be formatted as a "tongue-in-cheek" comedy. Wonder if that's because Pamela Anderson's cameo role is funny, or because Pam in a red swimsuit, today, is? Just asking.

Angelina Jolie Out-earns Jennifer Aniston

Friday, July 10, 2009

Angelina Jolie may be a famous do-gooder and jet-setting parent, but she's also a butt-kicking actress who earned an estimated $27 million last year, making her the highest earning female celebrity in Forbes' list. Her film, Wanted, earned a whooping $341 million worldwide, and her next film, Salt, is already money in the bank because she gets a big upfront paycheck for playing a disgraced CIA agent.

Coincidences! Jennifer Aniston is a close second in Forbes' list, earning $25 million for her work in the $244 million romantic comedy Marley & Me and the upcoming comedy The Baster. And she's still earning money from Friends and for endorsing Glaceau's SmartWater.

These two rivals are followed by Meryl Streep and Sarah Jessica Parker, earning $24 million and $23 million, respectively.

New Miley Photos: "Oops, I Did It Again"

Friday, July 03, 2009

First the Vanity Fair magazine "racy" photos, then the "slanty eyes" photo brouhaha that offended some quarters of the American Asian community. Now here come a couple of Miley Cyrus pictures posted by 44-year-old filmmaker Adam Shankman, who produces Miley's new movie The Last Song, on Twitter that begs the question: "Is Miley Cyrus really as Disney-wholesome as she claims to be?"

The Sun reports that the first picture is of Miley sitting provocatively backwards in a chair, and the second is of Miley and Shankman together. Shankman defended the photos, saying: "Miley is a sweet angel who works tirelessly and endlessly and is allowed to have fun in the make up room." He advises fans to "lighten up" over the photos. In both pictures, Miley Cyrus looks like a . . . grownup.

What's the big deal with Miley growing up, anyway? A whole lot, apparently, in the lucrative Disney Kingdom where kids are the subjects and Miley is the current ruling princess AND role-model.

Transformers' Ethnic Offensiveness

Wednesday, July 01, 2009

Summer sizzles in cinemas these days with the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen lambasted by critics left and right for its "over-the-top, hip-hop-inspired vernacular and stereotypically black-sounding voices", that according to E! Online, "are, at best, racially and culturally insensitive and, at worst, grossly ignorant and offensive."

The blockbuster sequel was even compared to Star Wars: Episode I—The Phantom Menace, where George Lucas' Jar Jar Binks character was also castigated as a blatant ethnic stereotype. In Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, twin autobots Skids and Mudflap are called by critics as Jar Jar on wheels because they sport gold teeth, are illiterate and call their place of origin as "da hood."

But since Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a visual spectacle with an incredible amount of money invested on it, despite its lame script and the insane ravings of critics, it's going to smash box office records with its producers laughing all the way to the bank.

Sean Penn's Puzzling Moves

Friday, June 26, 2009

The Hollywood press is perplexed over recent decisions and actions made by long-time actor and Oscar winner Sean Penn, according to the New York Post. And it is not easy to perplex the media, more so the Hollywood paparazzi who eats perplexing Hollywood celebrity stunts day in and day out. They don't often flinch when LiLo or Paris get a DUI, and love it when Britney gets a new hairdo.

Nevertheless, Hollywood is "stunned and perplexed" by Penn's recent antics. Why? The guy is on a blitzkrieg of unpredictable moves, from reconciling with wife Robin Wright Penn for the second time, to cancelling two Hollywood movie projects ("Cartel" about a father protecting his son from a Mexican drug cartel and "The Three Stooges" with Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro), to dating 27-year old Hollywood actress Natalie Portman.

What's up with him? He has announced he is putting his career on hold to spend more time with family. Let's just take his word on it for now. Many think he only got back with his wife because Portman ditched him. If this is true, let's hope this guy straightens himself out. Being perplexed is so... inconvenient.

Angie "Fine" After Minor Set Injury

Friday, June 05, 2009

People has confirmed that Angelina Jolie has resumed filming for Salt, the spy thriller she's been shooting in Long Island where an action scene left Jolie with scratches on her face and a bump in the head. Angie was immediately taken to the hospital, where she was given a thorough examination and -- this woman has got a tough hide! -- was immedialtely released and resumed working afterwards.

That scratch in the face will not detract in the least from Angie's stunningly beautiful mug, but that bump in the head -- would that wake her up from her Brad Pitt dreams and ...?

'Angels and Demons' actor: Brown's a "terribly bad writer"

Friday, May 22, 2009

He joins the cast of "Angels and Demons", but he's no fan of its author, Dan Brown. Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard, who plays the head of the Pope's Swiss Guard in the film, says he accepted his role in the film only after reading the script by director Ron Howard. Skarsgard cheekily said, "I think Dan Brown is a terribly bad writer, but he has cliffhangers after every chapter which makes you continue reading".

Oh, he also thinks "Angels and Demons" is better than the first film, "The Da Vinci Code". Is it because he's in it? Tom Hanks, by the way, reprises his lead role as Harvard professor Robert Langdon.

Mother's Day Poll: Jen a Better Mom than Angie?

Thursday, May 07, 2009

Incredible! In a recent poll made to coincide with Mother's Day, ParentDish.com reveals that out of 10,000 readers, many would rather have their precious kids babysat by movie star Jennifer Aniston than movie power-couple team Brangelina! What? Must be those jet-setting travels across the world. What with the H1N1 pandemic and all. Or maybe despite her movie goddess persona Jen is just too tender, soft and motherly.

The readers also voted for Ellen DeGeneres and her partner Portia De Rossi as most trustworthy nannies. Jennifer Garner and Michelle Obama are the best moms. Must be all those photo-ops in the park for Jen and the campaign wave for Michelle. Dina Lohan, Kate Moss, and Courtney Love are voted monster moms. Could it be the late-night partying? Made for the movie mommies are a far cry from real moms, is all.
